Welcome back! We have been talking to Dr. Raminder Badyal of the Downtown Wellness Centre in Vancouver for the past few weeks. Asking him questions about the practicality of chiropractic care for children, whether a chiropractor will ever prescribe medicine, and even asking him for a few personal details as well.
This week we talked to Dr. Badyal about insurance coverage for chiropractic care, and whether or not the provincial medical services plan in British Columbia would cover a visit to the chiropractors office. As always, here is the video, with all of the words typed out below in case you do not have access to the sound.
Hi, I'm Dr. Raminder Badyal from the Downtown Wellness Centre. I'm a chiropractor here.
Is Chiropractic care covered by MSP in BC?
Chiropractic is covered for some individuals in this province under the medical services plan, for the most part, though most extended insurance companies do cover chiropractic, as well as private care.
There we have it. A short and direct answer for a simple question.
Each individual's needs will be different, and a short consultation with your insurance provider is typically recommended when you are unsure of your coverage. It is also important to note that MSP beneficiaries with Premium Assistance status are the ones covered by the Medical Services Plan. More information on the medical services plan for chiropractic care can be found on their website.
Stay tuned next week as we continue to learn more from Dr. Badyal about chiropractic care at his offices in the Downtown Wellness Centre of Vancouver British Columbia.
